I grew up in Northern Midwest, so I am no stranger to farms or snow. I found this picture in a book while learning to oil paint and wanted to paint it. I loved how the perspective of the land led your eyes to make the distant barn the central focus of the painting. It reminds me of when I was a child walking in the fields and used the barn as a reference for how far I had walked from the house. It was my compass, my beacon, and my home.
